Since 1848, the Democratic National Committee has been the home of the Democratic Party, the oldest continuing party in the United States. Today, we are millions of supporters strong, leading with our values, fighting for progress, and helping elect Democrats in every state, city, and ZIP code — from the local office to the Oval Office.

Our party is strong because it’s built on advancing our Democratic platform and forging positive solutions that include everyone. As the Democratic National Committee, we work together to build a bright future for everyone. We are fighting for the soul of our country, for the heart of our democracy, and America’s place.

    Chatham County Democratic Committee

The Chatham County Democratic Committee (CCDC), located in Savannah, is one of 159 County Committees and the only chartered Committee in Chatham County by the Democratic Party of Georgia. We are composed of 64 elected members, with eight District Post Seats representing their members of the Democratic Party of Chatham County.

We are the primary contact between the Democratic Electorate and the State Democratic Party and often the entry point for Democratic activists and candidates.

Our all-volunteer Committee works to elect State Committee Members, promote Party development, recruit qualified candidates for public office, support Democratic nominees, qualify Democratic candidates for county office, and perform such primary and election functions as are required by law at the County level. In addition to the chartered duties, we engage in activities that best suit the needs of Chatham County, as determined by the officers and membership.

    Committee Membership

Each District delineated the same as Chatham County Commissioner Districts has eight members from the Democratic Party of Chatham County elected by that District's members to represent them on the Chatham County Democratic Committee.

Membership is limited to 64 Post Seats that make up the voting body of the Chatham County Democratic Committee.

Any Democratic Party of Chatham County member may serve as a candidate for a Post Seat or an elector. However, serving as a Post Seat for your District is a bit more than something in name only or volunteering when called.

Elected to a Post Seat empowers you to:

    • Vote on important business administered at the monthly Business Meetings to help guide and lead the Committee to help advance our Democratic Principles,
    • Vote in Committee elections, and
    • Serve the Committee in a leadership position, including but not limited to being a member of the Executive Committee.
